Boxed Buildings Alpha 26.1
At just 6.2 x 3.9m, Alpha 26.1 fits comfortably behind many existing homes, including on lots as narrow as 9m wide.
The design is fully customisable and arrives ready to assemble. At $75,000 delivered, it is one of the most practical ways to add a genuinely liveable space to your existing property.
Alpha 26.1 is classified as a Small Secondary Dwelling, therefore generally only requires a building permit to commence construction.
SIP construction
Boxed Buildings are built from Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The panels arrive ready to assemble, with insulation already built in, which means the building goes up in roughly half the time of a conventional build.
The walls are also airtight in a way that standard timber framing rarely achieves, so the finished space stays warm in winter and cool in summer whilst significantly reducing the need to operate power hungry heating and cooling systems.

Boxed Buildings. Benefits compared to traditional builds
A conventional backyard build means weeks of site work, weather delays, and trades coming and going for months. A Boxed Building sidesteps most of that. The kit is manufactured off-site, so assembly is fast. Build time runs at roughly half that of a comparable conventional structure, with less site disruption and far less waste.
